North Perth is a suburb located in the inner city of Perth, Western Australia. The suburb is bounded by the Mitchell Freeway to the east, Charles Street to the west, Vincent Street to the south and Green Street to the north.

The area that is now North Perth was first inhabited by the Nyungar people, who lived in the area for over 40,000 years before the arrival of European settlers. The Nyungar people used the area around North Perth for hunting and gathering and as a place to meet with neighboring tribes.

The first European settlement in the area was established in the 1830s, when the Swan River Colony was founded by British colonizers. In the early days of the colony, North Perth was used as a farming area, with settlers growing crops and raising livestock on the fertile soil.

In the late 1800s, the population of North Perth began to grow, as more people moved to the area to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the booming economy. The area became home to a range of industries, including brick-making, printing, and timber milling.

By the 1900s, North Perth had become a bustling town, with a range of shops, businesses, and public amenities. The suburb was home to several schools, including North Perth Primary School, which was founded in 1893, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School, which opened in 1908.

The suburb was also home to several parks and recreational areas, including Hyde Park and the Beatty Park Leisure Centre, both of which were established in the early 1900s.

With the growth of the city of Perth in the 20th century, North Perth became an increasingly sought-after area for residential and commercial development. The suburb is now home to a range of housing options, from historic homes and cottages to modern apartment buildings.

Today, North Perth is known for its tree-lined streets, vibrant café and restaurant scene, and close proximity to the city center. The suburb has a strong community spirit, with numerous local groups and events bringing residents together.

In conclusion, North Perth has a rich history that reflects the growth and development of Western Australia. From its early days as a farming area to its current status as a vibrant inner-city suburb, North Perth has been a hub of activity and a center of community for over a century.
